“Daisy” - SOLD

16 hands : 11 year old : Percheron cross : Mare

Daisy is an 11 year old Percheron/Morgan mare standing 16 hands high. If you have seen her video, you will know this mare speaks for herself. There is not a safer, more gentle, babysitter type out there. Daisy has been in our family for years and has been trusted to lead the little ones around the ring, take guests on trail rides, and to pull the carriage on a Sunday drive with the family. She is perfect for young children to love on, quiet enough for grandma to climb on, and forgiving enough for guests and beginners to learn on. We always say, if you can’t ride Daisy, you shouldn’t ride at all.

In the ring, Daisys motto is, “slow and steady wins the race”. This makes her a perfect choice for little ones who want to daydream their way around the arena, or for adults who are just starting out and need a confidence boost. Daisy has a steady walk and a comfortable trot. We have never asked Daisy to canter as she has always been perfect for the walk/trot job for us. Why mess with perfection? Daisy is well behaved for the children and first time riders. She can sometimes be seen being ridden double around the farm by some of the many children who adore her.

Off property, Daisy is happy and relaxed. Everyone here can agree that Daisy is the best trail horse around. If you want a safe, steady, smooth ride down the trail, Daisy is your girl. Daisy has been on hundreds of trail rides with kids, guests, and ourselves in the saddle. She loves the water and will never turn down an opportunity for a swim. She will happily cross bridges, go through tunnels, cross roads, step over logs, and more. We cannot stress how great this horse is on the trails. She has even been on several weekend and overnight camping trips! There is nothing out there that phases this mare.

In the barn, Daisy is usually surrounded by the kids, being groomed and loved on. This mare will stand like a statue for hours on end to be groomed, braided, and petted. She is an angel to clip, bathe, and tack up. Daisy gets along well with everyone both inside and turned out. She minds her own business and finds her place in any herd. She is currently turned out in a mixed herd of geldings and other mares. Daisy is an easy keeper. She is currently barefoot and requires no special maintenance.

Under harness, Daisy is simple and easy to drive. She is mannerly to harness and hitch. We have driven Daisy in heavy traffic, and around the farm. Nothing bothers or spooks her, and she can be driven by just about anyone.

Overall, this is one special horse! Daisy is nothing short of a dream, she will make the best family horse for her next people. She is not going to win any races or take you to the Olympics, but she is the safest and quietest horse you will ever find. If you want a horse that can sit for a month, pull out of the stall, and take on a relaxing trail ride - this is the horse for you. You will not just be buying a horse, you’ll be buying an insurance policy that whoever is riding will be happy and safe! Located in Gap, Pennsylvania. Priced at $12,500.
