14.3 hands : 12 year old : Paint : Gelding
Declan is a 12 year old paint gelding standing a sturdy 14.3 hands high. If you want a quiet trail master - this is your guy. There isn’t much that phases this handsome dude. Wether you are hunter pacing or just looking to go for a relaxing hack out, Declan is sure footed and reliable. He’s the perfect size for guests and first timers. He is solid and well built enough to comfortably carry a large adult.
In the ring, Declan is straightforward and simple. Although most of his miles are on the trail, he’s happy to walk around and give the kids a pony ride. He’ll walk around slowly on a loose rein for as long as he’s asked to, and then pick up and have a nice working trot and canter. He does have his own motor and is not much of a push at the trot and canter. He takes up leg nicely and is learning more ring work and how to be adjustable every day. We’ve popped him over small xrails and he is a super cute jumper. With more fine tuning he’d be adorable in the show ring.
On the trails, Declan is well behaved and happy as a clam. He will lead, follow, or go in the middle of the pack. Declan is the ultimate trail mount and has tons of miles under his belt, with all types of riders, in all types of terrain. It’s what he’s been doing his whole life and what he’s best at. He will cross water or obstacle, go into the lake, pop over logs and small fences, and always safely carry his rider to their destination. Declan can ride down the road and is totally traffic safe. He’s the same off property as he is at home. This boy is always game to hop in the trailer and go adventure new trails and see new things. Anyone can take him out and not have to worry.
In the barn, Declan is easy to get along with. He likes attention and is used to the kids going in his stall to hug him, hang all over him, and brush him. He’s behaved on the crossties to tack up and easy to bridle. Declan can go out in a mixed herd with mares and geldings and tends to keep to himself. He’s more of an independent type and isn’t one to be overly attached to other horses. He’s definitely stolen some hearts around here and will be greatly missed. We know once he has his own person he’ll have the bond he deserves.
Declan is a nice companion to have around and has amazing looks to match. He gets compliments everywhere he goes. He is a pleasure to have around, and a fantastic trail master. If you want a nice relaxing day on the trails, or a fun ride around the arena, Declan is your guy. We want the best home for this special dude.
