Madeline is a 4 year old Belgian/Quarter Horse mare standing 16 hands high. If you want quiet and safe - this is your girl. There isn’t much that phases this pretty lady. Whether you are working in the arena or on the trails, Madeline is sure footed and reliable. Madeline is the perfect size for husbands or guests, yet gentle enough for young or timid riders to enjoy. Don’t let her age fool you, this sweet girl is wise beyond her years and as gentle as a lamb.
In the ring, Madeline is straightforward and simple. She enjoys taking it slow and steady and is a great choice for those just learning to trot. She has great brakes and stops at the “whoa”. She has 3 comfortable gaits, perfect for timid or small riders. We have used her for some riding lessons. She is great with the kids and patient as can be. Madeline has been started over small cross rails and jumps in the ring and out on the cross country field as well.
On the trails, Madeline is well behaved and happy. She will lead, follow, or ride in the middle of the pack. She enjoys swimming in the lake, and will cross any kind of water or obstacle you ask her to. She will step over logs, cross roads, and safely carry her rider to their destination. Madeline is the same off property as she is at home. She loves exploring new trails and is on her best behavior on hunter paces and paper chases. Anyone can ride this mare out on the trails; she is safe, simple, and straightforward.
In the barn, Madeline is easy to get along with. She is never “mare-ish” and always does what is asked of her. Madeline stands to be groomed and tacked and is often handled by lesson students and children. When turned out, Madeline goes in a mixed herd of other mares and geldings. She gets along well with others and doesn’t cause a fuss. Madeline has no bad habits in or out of the barn.
Under harness, Madeline has been primarily driven in a team but will also drive single very well. There isn’t much that phases this pretty lady. Whether you are working in the arena or on the trails, Madeline is sure footed and reliable. This girl is very simple, straightforward, and uncomplicated.
Madeline is one of those horses that we tell people - if you can’t ride her, you shouldn’t be riding. She is truly a pleasure to have around, and a fantastic babysitter for the children.
