“Captain” - SOLD

16.3 hands : 5 year old : Belgian/TB : Gelding

Captain is a 5 year old Belgian/Thoroughbred gelding standing 16.3 hands high. We are so thrilled with how this horse came along. He is very brave and honest on the cross country field, willing and smart in the arena, and reliable as ever on the trails. We all really enjoyed working with, lessoning on, and training this big lovable horse! He is full of talent, brains, and scope for the upper levels—yet being quiet and sensible enough to learn and grow with an amateur or junior rider in the saddle.

In the ring, Captain is so much fun to ride! He has been attending weekly dressage lessons and is a favorite among the trainers and students. He is schooling first level with a great start on lateral work. He knows how to work in a frame or stretch out on a loose rein. Captain has all of the makings to move up the levels in the dressage arena with ease. Over fences, Captain is brave and bold with great form. He is still green over fences in the ring, but he is honest and very willing. He is the type of horse where the answer is always “yes” and aims to please. We have schooled Captain up to 3”6 and he shows scope for much more in the future.

Off property, Captain has tons of miles. He absolutely loves to trail ride and hunter pace! Captain will swim like a fish, and never says no to taking a dip in the lake. We love having him along on all of our trail riding adventures; he is brave, reliable, and sure footed.

Cross country, Captain has schooled all types of fences up to training level. He was so incredibly brave his first time out that he will be one that sticks out in our minds forever. That’s a big statement coming from us as trainers. He wasn’t bothered by a thing and went right to business. It is always a good feeling to have a trusting and happy horse under you out jumping XC. He is one of those youngsters that just leave you with a feeling of success at the end of every ride.

In the barn, Captain is respectful and polite. He loves having a relationship with his people and will start to look for you once he realizes you are his buddy. He is definitely the type of horse that thrives having a relationship with his rider(s) and it truly shows when you climb in the saddle. Captain is currently living out in a mixed herd of mares and other geldings and gets along well with others. He is well behaved when stalled as well, and has no bad habits.

Captain is such a promising young horse ready to take on the world! He has a great foundation combined with some miles in a variety of disciplines to make for a well rounded, versatile horse, ready to take on anything his next people decide! Whether you are looking to climb the levels in a show arena or hit the trails and hunter paces, Captain will not disappoint!
