Meet ✨Cheyenne✨, a 4-year-old, 16.1–16.2hh Friesian/Percheron/TB mare. This girl has the looks and movement to stop anyone in their tracks! She has a beautiful, flowing mane and tail and that perfect in-between build everyone looks for. She’s sporty with floaty movement while still being substantial, and she has curves for days!
Cheyenne rides English, Western, and bareback, and we think this pretty lady has all the makings of a lovely dressage horse—or the versatility to excel in just about any direction her next rider chooses. She has a sweet demeanor on the ground, a willing attitude, just enough spice to keep life fun, and once she clicks with her rider, she will try her heart out for you! 😍
On the trail, Cheyenne has been to numerous locations and has been an absolute superstar! She’s smart, careful with her feet, and always an enjoyable ride. She will happily lead or follow in a group and doesn’t get upset if another horse rides close to her. She has been in the river, over bridges, around wildlife, bikes, and hikers, and she is traffic safe.🍂 She’s happy to trot or canter in the field and is equally comfortable taking on more challenging terrain in the woods. Cheyenne has been thoroughly desensitized to tarps, flags, dogs, traffic, equipment, and smoke and fire. She is incredibly brave for her age. If something looks out of the ordinary, she may take a second to check it out, then keeps right on trucking! She’s safe, sensible, and genuinely enjoys getting out for an adventure. We could easily see her being a blast for a fox hunter or enjoying hunter paces and paper chases. She has also been schooled over cross-country jumps, where she has impressed us with her bravery and natural talent.
In the ring, Cheyenne has been coming along beautifully. She stands like a statue to mount and has a lovely walk, trot, and canter in both directions. She is continuing to develop her connection, balance, and responsiveness to different leg cues. She has one of the best stops in the barn off a simple “whoa” or by sitting back. She is adjustable and will happily give you a lovely, relaxed trot or stretch out and cover some serious ground when asked. She has naturally expressive movement, excellent impulsion, and a lovely sense of self-carriage.🌟
Cheyenne is forward enough that you don’t have to work hard to create energy, without being speedy or difficult to ride. She is incredibly light in the hand, with a wonderfully suspended trot and plenty of freedom through the shoulder. Her natural front-end movement and way of carrying herself are truly special—she doesn’t have to be manufactured into a pretty mover; it comes naturally to her. While Cheyenne is progressing beautifully with collection, she is just as happy to return to her Western roots and cruise around on a loose rein. She is responsive to voice cues and light aids and has been nothing but a joy to bring along. ✨
We feel she would be suitable for an adult amateur or junior working with a trainer, a fun project for a professional, and she’ll even pack around the husband on occasion if you ask nicely! 😂 She is an incredibly intelligent young mare, so we recommend that she remain in a consistent program where she can continue her education and development. 📚
Around the barn, Cheyenne is safe, mannerly, and a pleasure to have around. She is remarkably non-mare-ish when it comes to other horses and is very well behaved in a mixed herd. She’s the kind of mare you can lead in and out of the field with three others in tow and she won’t even bat an eye. With Cheyenne, you never have to worry about her starting drama. We can put her out with just about anyone and know she won’t cause trouble—in fact, she’s even been known to babysit the boys! 😂 She enjoys her girl time just as much and truly seems to make friends with everyone. She is quiet and well behaved on the cross-ties for grooming, braiding, bathing, tacking, and appointments with the vet, farrier, and dentist. She genuinely enjoys attention from her people and is a pleasure to have in the barn in every way. Cheyenne loads and trailers quietly and keeps her head on her shoulders even when she’s away from home.
Cheyenne is up to date on vaccinations, Coggins, dental, farrier care, and deworming. She is currently in a padded shoe package to support her hoof mechanics and encourage continued heel growth. She requires no additional maintenance or supplements and is an easy keeper in every way. ☺️
✨Cheyenne✨ has so much life to give and, without a doubt, one of the brightest futures. We absolutely adore this mare and want nothing but the best home for her. She is the kind of horse that gives you something to look forward to every time you walk into the barn, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes with her next person! ❤️
