Channing is a 6 year old Percheron/ WB gelding standing 17 hands high. Channing is the definition of once in a lifetime horse. He has the sweetest, easygoing temperament. He is a true steady-eddy type that is both comfortable, straightforward, and safe under saddle. And not to mention, he is the most photogenic horse in the barn, you will not be missed aboard this stunning gelding who is fit for royalty. Channing has also undergone basic police horse training and is great with traffic, flares, sirens, smoke bombs, fire, and crowds.
In the ring, Channing is happy to tote around the little ones, wobbling around and learning to steer and balance. He is also just as content going to work in a frame, popping around a course of jumps, or being your partner in a dressage lesson. Channing is beginning to learn lateral work, has great brakes, and the smoothest gaits you could ask for. He is talented enough for more experienced riders to school and enjoy, while still being saintly enough that he is trusted with our little ones, lesson students, and guests. Channing has been started over small courses and schooled up to 3”6, however we have been more focused on his flatwork recently, so although he is honest, brave, and simple over fences, he is still considered green when it comes to full course work. Most of Channing’s jumping experience has been out of the arena in hunt country, jumping logs, walls, coupes, and so on.
Off property, Channing has the majority of his miles. He is a trusty partner for any level rider on the trails and will cross absolutely any obstacle along the way. He greatly enjoys swimming and playing in the water, you can even use him as a diving board if you feel like going for a dip yourself! Channing has lots of experience on hunter paces and paper chases as well, and will happily lead, follow, or ride alone. Channing is always polite and relaxed in new places and enjoys seeing new things with his rider.
In the barn, you will not find a horse with a better personality. Channing is everything you could want and then some. He has impeccable manners while being groomed, bathed, tacked, and clipped. He will gently nuzzle you any chance he gets, and absolutely loves people. Channing is happy living inside or out, and is currently turned out with mares and other geldings with no issues.
Under harness, Channing is broke the best. He stands to hitch and unhitch, and drives like an old pro. He is safe in heavy traffic on highways, will cross water, bridges, go through tunnels, and even through the drive through! He is a great choice for a Sunday drive with the family, and again has impeccable manners and sense while under harness.
