“L Paso” is a 5 year old Dutch Harness gelding standing 16.1 hands high. L Paso is fancy, flashy, and comes with all the right markings! You will not go unnoticed on this guy. He has such a big presence in any company. L Paso is a great mover, with a terrific canter, and will without a doubt be able to move up the levels in the dressage arena. His attributes do not end where the arena does though, L Paso is also a fantastic hunt horse. He has been out several times this season and has both quietly hill topped, and kept up in (a slower going) first flight. L Paso also shines on hunter paces and has been out almost every other weekend on one this fall! We already know he will catch the eye of CDE drivers too. L Paso checks off all those boxes too; he is athletic and moves on yet is still very sensible.
In the ring, L Paso enjoys having a job. He has three expressive, balanced, and show stopping gaits. He is the type that will easily climb up the levels as his education continues. He has a better canter than most purebreds, already balanced and rhythmic at such a young age. L Paso is learning to stretch and use his hind end properly, and will be ready to start working on lateral movements in the next few weeks. L Paso is a brave jumper and has done some smaller courses around 2’6, with plenty of scope and athleticism for more when he gets older. He has offered flying changes, but has not been pushed to school them as he can clearly achieve them. L Paso has had all of the basics done and is ready to take the next step in his training with his next rider. This pretty guy is intelligent, athletic, and wants to do right by his people. With the right rider he will be a breeze to put the finishing touches on and hit the show ring!
Off property, L Paso has the majority of his miles. We have taken him on hunter paces and paper chases almost every other weekend this fall. Whether you are one who wants to take it slow and sight see, or gallop along and do all the jumps, L Paso will be happy to be out for the ride. He has also been out cross country schooling, and has seen coupes, walls, ditches, water, and more. He is green out on the xc course, but very honest and transparent to every fence. As long as he is given direction you can’t go wrong! L Paso was a fantastic partner out in the hunt field this season as well. He took to the hounds and environment right away. Give him another season under his belt, and he will be an invaluable asset out in the field. On the trails, L Paso is straightforward and simple. He will cross water, roads, and anything else you may encounter.
Under harness, L Paso is a total show stopper. He is bold, fancy, and work oriented while hitched. He has all of the makings to be a top contender in the show ring or combined driving. He has been driven in traffic, in the ring, and around the farm.
In the barn, L Paso is hard to miss. He just has such a presence wherever he goes! He is polite on the crossties and stands to be groomed, tacked, and bathed. He enjoys attention and being pampered. L Paso is currently living outside in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. When stalled, he has no bad habits, but will be more “up” for the first couple minutes if he goes without turnout for a few days. Overall, L Paso is an easy keeper that is a pleasure to have in the barn.
L Paso is a talented young horse with a great foundation. He is ready to head off in any direction and be successful. L Paso would work best with a rider with some experience and confidence. He is a safe and simple horse, but he is athletic and a big mover, so a timid or beginner rider may not be the best match. L Paso loves to have a job and to explore the countryside with his rider. If you want a drop dead gorgeous young horse, with a promising future, look no further. We truly mean it when we say he can do it all. Jumping, eventing, dressage, driving, hunting, trails, you name it!
