Sylvester is an 8 year old Percheron/Friesian gelding standing 16.3 hands high. Horses don’t come much better than this! Sylvester is quiet, safe, and is easy on the eyes as well. We have used Sylvester for carriage rides, walk/trot lessons with the children, and as an all around family horse. But where he really shines is out on the trails. Husbands, guests, children, and professionals alike can enjoy taking Sylvester out for a ride. Whether you want a safe horse for your partner to tag along on, or if you are looking to have a relaxed ride yourself after a long day at work- this is the guy for you!
On the trails, Sylvester is a breeze to handle, ride, and trailer. He will load up and happily hack out wherever is asked of him. Sylvester absolutely loves the water too! He is brave and will give confidence to both his rider and any horses following behind him. Sylvester will cross creeks, go over bridges, under tunnels, and rides safely with traffic. Hunter paces and paper chases your thing? Sylvester will happily carry you around for a fun and relaxing day, even popping over small fences if you choose to do so.
In the ring, Sylvester will walk trot and canter both directions and has fantastic brakes. He is gentle and steady enough for our 5 year old nephew to walk/trot, and is great for giving the younger ones pony rides as well! Sylvester has not started any dressage training at this time as he has primarily been used as a family horse for the children and their friends to learn on. He will trot over small fences when asked and is learning how to go in a frame and on the bit.
In the barn, Sylvester is nothing short of a pleasure to have around. He is gentle enough for the children to handle on their own, and loves all of the attention he gets from them. He will stand like a statue to be groomed, tacked, bathed, and clipped. Sylvester is content being in his stall or turned out in the pasture. When turned out, he is in a mixed herd of mares and other geldings and gets along well with everyone.
Under harness, Sylvester is a pro. He is forward and likes to work. He’s been used on and off the farm and for carriage rides.
