"Tex" - SOLD

16 hands : 15 year old : Percheron/TB : Gelding

Tex is a 15 year old, 16.hh, Percheron/Thoroughbred cross gelding. This boy is so special and a hard one to see go. He’s a barn favorite that we would trust anyone to ride—he’s just that reliable. He’s been on countless miles of trails, and he loves riding out with his person. He is a total husband horse. He’s the trustworthy guest packer of the barn. We want the best home for our boy and will be picky about where he goes.

In the carriage, Tex has the most knowledge, and he is trained the very best to drive. He’s traffic safe, easy to harness and hitch, and always reliable. He has lots of driving under his belt, and he is simple enough for anyone to drive. We’ve had him on our busy road with semi trucks flying by him, and he never bats an eye. He’s been hitched to lots of different farm equipment, as well as single and double. He knows his job and is good at it. If you can’t drive him, you have no business trying to drive any horse ever.

On the trail, there’s nothing that phases him.  He’ll go in western or English tack with the same happy attitude. He’s been a reliable guest horse, and is guaranteed to make his rider smile. Tex is good with other horses, and will fearlessly lead the group, or happily go in the back. He’s never in a rush to get anywhere. He’s a nice relaxing ride with no spook, buck, kick, or rear. This boy loves water. He will cross the stream or go for a swim in the river. If there’s a log or small fence in the way he’ll pop right over it. He’s been to the beach and was a total champ the whole time. He went right in the waves.  He’s a true trail master and is always ready for an adventure.

In the ring, Tex is straightforward and simple. He’s adjustable and has smooth gaits. He has a great whoa and will stop on a dime as soon as you sit back or if he feels his rider get unbalanced. He’s more of a push ride, but will happily get along when asked. His canter is still developing due to his driving background, however Tex is always willing and never mean or nasty. He’s a fast learner and has such a good demeanor. We’ve used him for beginner and lead-line lessons. Everyone needs a Tex in their barn in our opinion.

In the barn, Tex is always respectful and never causes problems. He is as quiet as a mouse in his stall and has no bad habits. He’ll turn out with mares and geldings and always gets along with everyone. He’s easy to groom and work around. He’s every farrier and trainers dream. Tex will stand to tack and untack and loves any attention. He loads right up on the trailer with no hesitation. This lovable guy is a barn favorite, and we’ll all be sad to see him go.

Tex is UTD on shots, farrier, dentist, deworming and coggins. He’s available to purchase for $9,500.
