"Zeke” - SOLD
15.2 hands : 3 year old : Dutch Harness : Gelding
Zeke is a 3 year old Dutch Harness gelding currently standing 15.2 hands and growing. There are so many fantastic things to say about this young horse! He is amongst the easiest to work with both in the ring and out. He loves to get out of the arena and explore on trail rides and various barn outings. He has been relaxed and safe on every adventure we have taken him on thus far. Zeke is definitely a horse we will watch for in the future! He has exceptional movement and does not have a lot of knee action, making him a top level prospect both for dressage and as a jumper/eventer. This youngster has all the makings of an upper level horse while having the brain and attitude of an amateur/junior rider friendly mount, that will be simple and safe enough for a novice to bring along with the help of a trainer.
In the ring, Zeke is comfortable and easy to ride. He has three fantastic gaits that are balanced and smooth as can be. He is the perfect mix of whoa and go with great brakes and steering. Zeke naturally wants to carry himself round and travel correctly. This guy will be one that “wows” every dressage trainer who gets to see him go. We have introduced Zeke to very small jumps, and he has been brave and as simple as one could ever ask for. We could see a promising career as a jumper or eventer in his future!
Off property, Zeke has most of his miles. With all of our young horses we think it is extremely important to let our horses see the world and have fun with their friends in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. What better way to do that than going on lots of trail rides and adventures! Zeke loves to swim and is happy to lead, follow, or ride alone. He will cross any obstacle such as bridges, roads, logs, and ditches. He is a gentleman to load on the trailer and stands tied while tacking and mounting.
In the barn, Zeke enjoys being groomed and getting attention. He stands to be groomed and tacked, and has wonderful barn manners for a horse of his age. Zeke is turned out with mares and other geldings, and never causes an issue. He is also content when stalled, and has no vices. Zeke is easy to catch, and enjoys being around his humans.
Under harness, we have driven him for about 30 days back in the spring. He was very uncomplicated and simple. He picked it up the first day. We have not driven him since then as almost none of our Dutch Harness horses are bought up by carriage drivers. The demand for them as dressage, jumper, and eventers is much bigger.
Overall, Zeke is a talented, quiet, and easygoing youngster. He comes with all the chrome you could ever imagine, and the movement to match making him a prime candidate for the show ring. His brain, natural ability, and way of going make him an absolute upper level prospect, that professionals would love to add to their string, while still being amateur friendly and safe enough for non-pros to enjoy and bring along themselves with the help of a trainer. Ones like Zeke do not come around very often.
