“Rio” - SOLD
16 hands : 5 year old : Warmblood : Gelding
Rio is a 5 year old American Warmblood gelding standing 16.1 hands high. We have nothing but good things to say about this lovely young gelding. He has been in our program being used for lessons of all levels for about a year now. He has done everything from local hunter shows, cross country schooling, hunter paces, side saddle, dressage, and trail riding. Rio is a dream for any dressage rider, a fun partner for any eventer, and a favorite of any trainer that gets to work with him.
In the ring, Rio is straightforward and fun to ride. He is moving through his dressage training with flying colors, and is great with lateral work, connection, and transitions. Over fences, Rio is scopey, honest, and careful. He has been schooled up to 3”6 and has plenty of room for more. Rio has a great attitude and can take a joke. He has some of the smoothest gaits you’ll ever sit, with one of the nicest canters in the barn.
Off property, Rio is relaxed and happy to explore. He has been to some schooling shows with our students, and walks right into any ring and gets the job done. Rio also greatly enjoys hunter paces and cross country schooling. He has seen all types of fences, obstacles, and water. Speaking of which, Rio absolutely loves to swim! He would spend all day in the lake if we let him. On the trails, Rio will cross bridges, go through tunnels, and cross roads. Nothing phases him and he is always up for a new adventure!
In the barn, Rio is definitely a favorite. He has a fantastic personality and loves his people. He is always the first horse to the gate when he sees you coming, and gets along well with both mares and geldings out in the pasture. Rio is happy living in or out, and stands to groom, tack, clip, and bathe.
Rio is a once in a lifetime type of horse. It’s not every day that we get such a versatile and talented horse with his brain and attitude. He has blown us away with all of his talent and good nature.
