Meet 🌟 Solomon! 🌟
This handsome gelding is a 4-year-old, 16.2hh Friesian/Standardbred cross. Solomon has legs for days and movement that catches everyone’s eye! He has done a little bit of everything in our program and is a solid young prospect with a bright future. He rides Western, English, bareback, and has even been started under harness. He has a kind, respectful personality on the ground, and he even lays down on command! 🙌🏼
In the ring, Solomon has had an easy, correct start with a solid foundation. He will confidently walk, trot, and canter both directions, steadily working in connection and learning to move nicely off the leg. He has a light feel in the bridle, natural impulsion, and a huge, ground-covering stride with all the suspension you could ask for. We have focused on consistency, correct carriage, and overall balance, and he improves with every ride.
Solomon is incredibly smart, talented, and quick to learn. While he is sensible and level-headed, he is not a deadhead, so we feel he would be best suited for a rider with at least some experience. He would make an excellent partner for an adult amateur or a junior working with a trainer. He would also be an outstanding prospect for a professional looking to develop a talented young horse and bring him up the levels. We have no doubt he could excel in the dressage world. His movement is impossible to overlook, and he is hands-down the best mover in our barn!
On the trail, Solomon is brave, confident, and overall a point-and-go ride. He has logged many trail miles and remains solid and steady wherever you take him. Whether galloping through open fields, navigating winding wooded trails, hopping over logs, or taking a bareback swim in the river, he takes it all in stride. He has been exposed to dogs, bikes, hikers, busy traffic, and we’ve even ridden him to the gas station.
Solomon has also been cross-country schooling and genuinely enjoyed himself. He impressed us with his bravery, honesty, and willingness to tackle new questions. He is naturally athletic and careful over fences, showing serious potential as a sport horse. We have intentionally kept the jumping small and straightforward due to his age, but he has already demonstrated all the scope, technique, and form you could ask for.
He has also participated in several hunter paces and paper chases, handling the busy atmosphere with ease. Solomon always aims to please and gives his best every day. While he is naturally alert and aware of his surroundings, he keeps his head on straight and continues to gain confidence with every experience.
On the ground, it’s hard not to love this boy. He wants to be everyone’s best friend, and adores getting attention. He stands to groom tack up and bathe, and he’s always a gentleman for the farrier, vet, and dentist. He is quiet and behaved in his stall and for turnout, and gets along well with other horses. He loads and trailers like a champ! He’s been trailered off property many times to different trails and events, taking everything in stride. This lovable gelding is the type that truly wants to bond and have a relationship with his person. He is sweet as can be- and always comes in the pasture to greet you!
Solomon is truly something special. With the right guidance, we believe he has all the pieces to excel in any discipline. Whether your goals are dressage, eventing, pleasure riding, or an all-around sport horse partner, Solomon has the talent, temperament, and versatility to take you there.
