Meet ✨Roy✨ — this guy is as sweet as they come! Roy is a 3, coming 4-year-old Perch/QH cross gelding. He’s already a big boy, currently standing at 16.2-3hh, and string tested to finish close to 17.2hh! This oversized baby is the definition of a gentle giant, and he’s safe and wise beyond his years. He’s been started under harness, and he’s going nicely under saddle, both Western and English. He’ll even ride bareback or bridle-less! Roy already has a nice handle on him and an amazing, balanced feel! One of the best parts about Roy is that he is SAFE and sensible. He will come out of the stall the same horse every ride—easy, sweet, and willing to please. If you’re looking for the ultimate husband horse, family horse, or guest horse, don’t pass up on Roy. He’s an absolute gem!
In the ring, Roy has picked up on things quickly, and he’s doing amazing! He will side-pass over to the mounting block (or anything) for you to get on. All you have to do is snap your fingers, and he’ll come pick you up! 😊 He has a lovely walk, trot, and canter both ways. He gets both leads easily, and he can already canter circles and stop like your best QH! He has nice self-carriage and is the perfect in-between of whoa and go. He has the basics down pat, and we couldn’t ask for better at this age. He goes on a loose rein or with contact, and you can neck rein, direct rein, or ride him bridle-less! He moves off the leg well, and he has started learning to side-pass, leg yield, and turn on the haunches and forehand—he’s awesome! Roy will stop on a dime with a simple “whoa” or by sitting back in your seat. He reads his rider well, though he’s not too sensitive that he can’t pack around beginners! He has taught the kids, packed the husband, and carried all the guests! He has a phenomenal brain, one he was simply born and blessed with!
On the trail, Roy is straightforward and fun to take out. He keeps his calm, easygoing demeanor in all situations, and he’s a pleasure to ride! He’s been through bridges, into the water, and up and down steep trails. You can canter out in the open fields, pop over logs, or just mosey along on a loose rein. Roy’s the type of guy you can crack a drink on, and he’ll take care of the rest. He’s traffic-safe, has seen wildlife, and is desensitized to bikers, tarps and flags, hikers, dogs, smoke, and equipment. We haven’t done too much jumping at this age; however, he has been introduced to poles, small X-rails, and logs. He’s cute, athletic, and overall amazing and honest in every way.
On the ground, Roy has great manners. He stands to groom, tack up, and bathe, and he’s a gentleman for the vet, farrier, and dentist. He’s sweet and gentle, comes to you in the pasture, and it’s impossible not to love him! We have had no complaints about Roy in any way. He has zero vices, and we have yet to find a flaw in him! If you want a big, quiet guy around who can go in any direction—Roy is your guy!
