Vinny is an 8 year old, 3/4 Dutch Harness 1/4 Percheron gelding standing 16.1hh high. We are so pleased with how versatile, fun, and reliable Vinny has proven to be. He is safe and steady enough for guests to take on the trails, simple and easygoing for the children to ride around the farm, but has the brains and potential to move up the levels if his rider desires to do so. Whether you are looking for a partner to event, ride dressage, foxhunt, or even drive- Vinny is your guy! We absolutely love crosses like Vinny, they are known for their quiet minds and versatility. He has a solid foundation with lots of experience outside of the ring and in a variety of scenarios so that he can be successful in whatever discipline(s) you choose.
In the ring, Vinny has a basic dressage foundation and is a very quick learner. He is schooling well off the outside rein, and steers off of the leg well. He is also learning basic lateral movements. He knows how to go into a frame, or relax and stretch on a loose rein, and is very well broke to voice commands. Over fences, Vinny is simple and straightforward, working on trot in, canter out exercises to perfect his form over fences. He has also been started on small courses. He has schooled up to 1.05m with scope for more. He is very honest over fences and has a great jumping style.
Off property, Vinny is experienced and surefooted. If you can dream it, he has done it! From beach rides, to side saddle events, side saddle parades, trail rides, hunter paces, swimming, and everything in between. He happily goes into the water and will swim like a fish all day, and is not worked up by crowds or excitement at events. Vinny is what we like to call a tourist, and enjoys taking in the sights and and taking in his new surroundings, but he knows his job is to safely take care of his rider and is not reactive to spooky situations. Vinny is the type that loves to see and do new things and will happily cross or jump any obstacle that you may come across in your travels! The children ride him through the fields to Wawa to get snacks, and we have even ridden him through the drive through for lunch. Vinny will ride in a group or alone, and can be ridden by almost any level rider on the trails.
In the barn, Vinny is personable and friendly. He is an easy keeper, and is happy living inside or outside. He loves to drink from the hose, and be groomed by the children! He is good to clip, bathe, and is safe with children, dogs, and other farm animals running about.
