“Wayne” - For Sale

16 hands : 4 year old : Belgian/Morgan X : Gelding

Meet ✨Wayne✨

This outstanding gelding is a four-year-old Belgian/Morgan cross, standing right around 16 hands. With a bold blaze, pretty coloring, and good conformation, he gets noticed everywhere he goes. Wayne rides English, Western, lays down on command, and drives! He’s as handy as they come and doesn’t mind a full day of work — in fact, he seems to thrive on it. He’s had enough miles under his belt to be reliable and sensible, and he has a solid brain. This hunk is built sturdy, and he’s built to last.

Wayne has been well educated and has quite a few buttons! He spins, side passes, leg yields, and turns on the haunches. He’s adjustable with just a light feel through your hand and leg. He’s a smart ride and so fun to bring along — making him enjoyable for riders with some experience. In the arena, he’s probably not suitable for a complete beginner yet, simply because he is still learning himself. However, we could see him being a great fit for a confident AA or JR working with a trainer, or a professional who wants a smart young horse to make into something great. He tends to have more of a “mosey along” attitude on the trail, so in that scenario, he could definitely have the husband thrown on for a fun ride out. In the arena, he has a good work ethic — a nice in-between of having his own motor while still having brakes and adjustability. He is very sensible, though not a complete deadhead, and still just a baby learning the ropes. He has a lot of confidence across a variety of disciplines and offers a great feel under saddle.

This pretty gelding neck reins as well as direct reins, he’s learning to go on the bit, and he already moves off of leg extremely well. He’s the kind you can put plenty of leg on without him launching you into space or trying to be a racehorse. He reads his rider’s body language very well for his age and is responsive to your seat, posting speed, a half halt, or a slight wiggle of the rein to bend, etc. He sometimes needs to be reminded to slow down his brain, because he always wants to please and do the right thing, which can lead to some anticipation. He’s a horse that will do well with someone who can keep things interesting for him and give him a job. He doesn’t mind a hard day of work, and we could see him being great for a ranch outfit, someone who does lots of trails, fox hunting, hunter paces, or even someone who wants to turn him into a dressage master! The options are truly endless for him, and he has potential in every way. He is loaded with talent, and we want him to go to the perfect fit!

Over jumps, Wayne has been started slowly and correctly, and he has been exposed to a variety of different environments. He’s the same horse off property as he is at home. He’s been out on hunter paces and cross-country schooling, and this guy totally blew us away with his natural talent. He’s guaranteed to get you to the other side of the jump and is always the type to go for it with cute form and his ears forward. He has tons of athletic ability when it comes to jumping — it’s almost like he has springs in his legs — and all you have to do is point him in the right direction! He’s been over poles, cross rails, boxes, and oxers in the ring, as well as logs, roll tops, coops, and tubes out on the trail and cross country. He’s started doing simple combinations and exercises and is doing fantastic! He hasn’t had his legs jumped off, and his introduction to jumping has been slow and focused on the basics. Out in the field, he will follow or lead over jumps without hesitation. Wayne is one that will get better every single time you practice and blow you away with his honesty and natural talent.

On the trail, Wayne is happy to go wherever you put him. He doesn’t get too forward or hot, and you can walk him on a loose rein. He’s like a small, compact semi-truck that will go through or over anything! He will lead the way through swampy, muddy creeks or go in the river for a dip. He’s been over bridges, out in open fields, on wooded, winding trails, and exposed to hikers, bikers, and all sorts of wildlife. He is traffic-safe and equipment-proof. We’ve ridden him into town, right past live construction sites, and he didn’t bat an eye. He’s been to the store, the gas station, and has even gone through the drive-thru! He has a good brain, is surefooted, and is the same horse every time you take him out. He’s just as unfaltering under harness and is used to being hitched up solo and taken out. He’s light to drive through your hands and responds to voice signals.

In the barn, Wayne has good manners and is respectful and obedient. He has zero vices in the barn, in turnout, or in his stall. He’s a gentleman to groom, tack up, and bathe, and he’s always a sweetheart for the farrier and vet. He’s in your pocket with a people-loving personality and will stand for hours to get attention and be doted over. He loads right into the trailer with no issues or hesitation — and trailers quiet as a mouse. This is a fantastic young prospect with all the potential to continue in any direction. If you want a handy horse with a good work ethic and a will to please, Wayne is your boy!
