"Monte" - For Sale
16-16.1 hands : 10 year old : Friesian/Morgan : Gelding
Monte is a 10 year old Friesian/Morgan cross standing right around 16-16.1hh. This gelding is well put together, intelligent, versatile, and has the sweetest personality. He’s definitely one of the nicest prospects in the barn. Monte has stolen our hearts, and he has been such a fun one to bring along. We want the best possible match for this special guy.
On the trail, Monte is brave and sensible. He is happy to lead or follow. He gets along with mares and geldings and doesn’t get upset if another horse rides too close. We’ve ridden him with dogs, around bikes, through the river, and over logs. He’s down for anything and thoroughly enjoys being out to see the sights. He’s always a fun ride, takes care of his rider, and he is sure footed and sturdy. He would make a fun horse to take on paper-chases or fox hunting.
In the ring, Monte has a nice wtc foundation. He’s learning to properly carry himself, balance more at the canter, move off leg, and go on the bit. We’ve been working on getting him bendy and supple. He’s happy to walk around on a loose rein, however you do not have to tell him to go twice. He has a good work ethic, and he is the perfect mix of whoa and go. He’s the kind of horse that likes a soft rider, and the softer you ride him the softer he is. He’s a very fast learner and responsive to aids. Monte never has bad habits such as buck, rear, or kick. He’d be suitable for an AA working with a trainer or a professional looking for something fun to bring along. He’s loaded with potential, has a brain, and could go any direction.
Over jumps, Monte has been lightly started, and he has been brave and honest with everything we throw at him. We have mostly been doing small cross rails, and some verticals to keep building his confidence. He naturally has good form and definitely has potential to go higher. He has gone out XC schooling and we couldn’t have asked him to do a better job. He is brave and willing with everything. He acts the same way on and off property.
Under harness, Monte has gone many miles and has seen a lot. He’s been hitched single and double and to some farm equipment as well. He’s traffic safe and likes to work in the harness. Although we’d prefer he goes to a riding home, he’s a super fun one to pull out and drive as well.
Monte is a complete love bug in the barn and strives off of attention. He’ll stand all day to be groomed and loved on. He’s easy to tack up and handle. He has no bad stall habits and can go out with mares and geldings. He’s had a lot of desensitization work with tarp, smoke, dogs, and equipment. We can’t say enough good things about this one. He’s always a pleasure to be around and will make someone a fantastic partner. We’ll all be sad to see him go, but excited for his bright future.
